Video of Me Making A Beat

Random Chatter

I live in Dallas now. I make music all day everyday. Isn't that grand??? Well, I need to get some shows booked and some beats sold or I'm gonna lose my mind. Believe me when i say I will NEVER work another regular 9 to 5. I'd rather live in a box with my Macbook so I could still make beats. So my girl lives in Minneapolis still and my cousin that I moved to Dallas with is kinda a homebody and that equates to an uneventful saturday night for me. With that being said, I decided to go to a yahoo hip-hop chat room and was soon bombarded with what seemed to be automated webcam porn invites. I didn't accept any of the invites btw. Is this what the world has come to??? Sad day. My mixtape is pretty much complete and now I just need to get some final mixes done. I will have a my single "Paradise" on iTunes by Christmas. Early next year I will be releasing the mixtape. I'm gonna finish watching House on my DVR now, but it was nice to give you an update after so long and I will soon be updating my blog.

Peace out,

Xavier Marquis

Lady Gaga "LoveGame" Remix feat. ME!!!!!

I fell in love with this beat when I first heard this song a few weeks ago, so I knew I had to jump on it. I really like Lady Gaga for some reason. She's so edgy and I think that's dope. Check it out and leave me a comment!!!!

It's really nice when people appreciate something that you do. Whether it be something as small and simple as "How are you???" or something as big as giving a kidney. Recently I've been appreciated for my music and that feels freaking great!!! I've worked so hard for so long and I've barely been heard. That's all about to change. My #1 focus right now is music. I've been working on The X-Files Mixtape for some time now and I've put a lot of money into it. I want for this to be the key to the beginning of my musical success. I'm working on my first single called Paradise and it's definitely a hit. How do I know that???? Because I made it fool!!! j/k No but seriously. It's a hot song and I think it will be playing in clubs all over the world soon. I'm really tired of just being your average poor American citizen. I want to touch millions if not billions through my music and I know for sure that it's going to happen. I just need to go get it. I don't aspire to be the richest or most powerful man in the world. I just want people to look at me and say "That's Xavier Marquis!!!!". No, it's not about the fame either. It's about creating a product that can change people's lives, at least their perspective on it, and being recognized and appreciated for that. Everybody is good at something or many things. I'm fortunate enough to know what my calling is. God gives us gifts and talents for a reason, therefore we need to take full advantage of them and use them. I'm on a mission and I hope you all can be part of it.

Signing out,

Xavier Marquis

My Favorite Gnarls Barkley "Crazy" Performance

I think this has to be one of my favorite songs of all time. I love the depth of the emotion in the music and Cee Lo's voice is so perfect for the song. I remember the first time I heard it, I instantly fell in love.

Toccara Jones in Vogue Italia (old but new to me)

Randon Chatter

Due to constant criticism I've decided to get off (or on) my lazy butt and update my blog. I guess I didn't think people actually read it, but I guess I was wrong. I have a lot of catching up to do. Hmmm... where do I start???? How about with THEFT?!?!?! One beautiful spring day in May I woke up to go to work. Loaded my Roland Fantom into my trunk and drove off to work. I didn't hear from my engineer all day so I figured our session was canceled, therefore I went home. As I walked into my house I remembered that my keyboard was in the trunk. I popped open the trunk and what did I see??? Everything except for my keyboard!!!! Years of beats GONE!!!! I searched high and low for my missing baby and found no traces of her. She was long gone. Never to be seen again. Luckily I have friends who care about me and truly believe in me. So my bff gave me the money for a new keyboard (Thanks Queen! I love you like a fat kid loves cake) and I've been making magic on it ever since. I've also gotten into software which is cool, compact, and convenient because you can make beats right off of a laptop. I've been putting in hours and hours at studio trying to finish my Mixtape by my July 1st deadline. Not sure if I've mentioned it before, but it's called THE X-FILES MIXTAPE EPISODE: 1. I'm extremely excited about it and it's gonna blow you all away!!!! That's what I'm focused on now until I finish it. Well, I gotta run now!!!!!!!

A few weeks ago I did a show at the Aloft Hotel's WXYZ in Minneapolis. It didn't go as well as I thought it should have being that I forgot some of the lyrics to my songs. I guess most people didn't even notice, but I did. I have a standard for myself. Ya dig??? NOTHING LESS THAN EXCEPTIONAL!!!!!! I fell far below that standard on that sad March day. Let's fast forward to last night at an open mic in St. Paul, shall we??? Me and MJ hit the stage and did a couple of tunes. The first tune was called "Dangerous". One of my favorite songs!!! The second was a tune called "Guaranteed Fresh" and boy were we FRESH!!! I love rapping and performing in front of people. I just felt it. I didn't need to feed off of the crowds energy (or lack there of). I created my own when the music came on. I shall tenetively name it... Xavergy. I had fun and that's what it's all about. I was ready do a full show!!! I really need to get some shows booked soon. Anyways, just thought I'd share that.

"I guess I got my swagga back, mama they say I killed the stage, well I guess I got the dagger back..."

Party in NYC!!!

So, somehow my Manager/Mother got in touch with Daylle Deanna Schwartz, an author who's books I've been reading on the music industry, and she personally invited us to her book release party at Bamboo 52 (a sushi restaurant) in Manhattan. I'm really exited to go and even though I will only be there for one day I understand that it can be a life changing experience. She is very popular in the music biz having interviewed many big names and she's even had her own career in rap music in the 80's. There will be tons of connections there (hopefully) and even if there aren't, Daylle is a big enough connection on her own. Our flight leaves tomorrow morning and I'll be headed to New York City on a jet plane with a pocket full of demo's and a heart full of courage!!!!

Fresh Kicks

I just bought a pair of these in black last night, but I'm definately gonna cop this color. I didn't know that Pf Flyers were out back in the 70's until the cashier had a story about them. Then I asked my dad if he's heard of them and he told me that he used to live by them as a kid.

The Love Lockdown Remix

Finally I recorded it!!! The wait is over. I recorded the remix last night at Masterjazz Studio. I'm loving how it turned out. I wasn't planning on using the autotune, but my wonderful engineer turned it on and I fell in love. I'm hoping that this really get out there and people hear it. It would be a trajedy if it went unheard!!! Enjoy!!!

Turf Club Show 01/27/2008

We did it!!! The first official Xavier Marquis show was a success!!! Me and DJ Eturnal lit the stage up for about 30 mins. I wanna thank everyone who came to show their support on that cold Tuesday night. I also wanna thank my cousin Dearling Physique for putting me on the bill. It felt great being on stage and performing new material for a crowd. The energy from just doing that alone was amazing!!! I'm going to be setting up more shows after I get back from my pleasure trip to Cocoa Beach, FL. I set up a Xavier Marquis you tube channel, so make sure you check it out www.youtube.com/xaviermarquis.

Here are videos and pics from the show. Enjoy!!!

Wow!!! I'm probably the last person that needs a blog. I haven't messed around with this for a couple months now. Well, let's do some catching up. I've recorded a couple new songs that are yet to be completed. Just like "Red Lights". Procrastination should be my last name. I'm moving to New York at the end of March or beginning of April and I don't have a penny saved up. As a matter of fact, I think I owe more now than when I originally decided to start saving. Wait!!! I opened up an account at Bank of America since my bootleg bank isn't in NYC and I had to make a deposit of at least $25.00. So I have 25 dollars saved for NYC!!!! It's better than nothing, right??? I have my first official show as Xavier Marquis on the 27th of this month. I'm extremely excited about it because I really feel like I've grown as an artist and performer since my last performance back in like '04. Man life was so much easier back then. Anyway, if anyone decides to read this I'd appreciate it if you would show up to my show January 27th at the Turf Club wich is on the northwest side of Snelling and University Ave. I believe I'm going on at 9:00pm. ***For all black people reading this, please plan to be there at 8:00pm. That way you can arrive to the venue about 45 minutes late and you wont miss my set. lol*** I should probably get back to work now. Goodbye friends
